Department & Team Training

Build stronger teams by developing the capabilities that matter most.

North & Noble's Department & Team Training programs are customized, curriculum-based engagements designed around a team's responsibilities, workflows, challenges, and performance objectives.

Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all program, we focus development around what the team actually needs to do differently or better.

Timing

When team training makes sense.

Team development is usually prompted by a change in what the team is being asked to do — or a gap between the standard and the output.

  • A team's responsibilities have evolved
  • Performance is inconsistent
  • Communication is breaking down
  • New leaders need development
  • Processes or expectations have changed
  • A department is preparing to scale
  • Sales or performance capability needs strengthening

The distinction

Built around your team — not a general audience.

Group training and keynotes are designed to reach a room. Team training is designed to reach a function — a specific set of people with shared responsibilities, shared workflows, and shared obstacles.

That changes what the work looks like. We start by understanding how the team operates today: what they own, where handoffs break down, where performance is uneven, and what leadership needs the team to be capable of next. The curriculum is then built from that.

Examples come from the team's actual work. Exercises use real scenarios. Participants leave with language and tools they can use with each other the following week.

Program formats

Structured to fit how the team works.

Focused Training Session

A single, targeted session addressing one capability the team needs to strengthen now.

Half-Day Program

Deeper exploration with room for discussion, practice, and team-specific application.

Full-Day Program

A comprehensive development day combining instruction, working exercises, and planning.

Multi-Session Development Program

A sequenced curriculum that builds capability over time, with application between sessions.

What we can build around

Start from a signature topic — or from your team's specific challenge.

Signature programs are a common starting point, but curriculum is frequently developed around a capability specific to the department — a new process, a new structure, or a standard the team is being asked to meet.

Next step

Discuss your team's needs.

Tell us what the team owns, where performance is falling short, and what they need to be capable of next. We'll design the curriculum around it.
